How much money would it cost to change your name?

in the State of California? And what would you have to do in order to change it legally? How much money would it cost to change your name?Legally, you can start using a new name as long as you show a history connecting with the original. You are not required to formally change it by registering it. You can have bank accounts, a drivers license, anything using the new name. You have to be open about it with all of your creditors, banks, the IRS, law enforcement, etc. You can only expect to be private about it with people not involved with important personal dealings. The point of changing a name should not appear to be an effort to conceal identity. Anything that fits that potential will be a problem.

Fees would be incurred for a new license. I suspect it would be a special fee because it involves more than just reissuing everything as it currently exists. You would need to pay for new checks, etc.
