How much would it cost to change from a v6 to a v8 in a 1965 mustang?

i have a 65 mustang 170 six cylinder with a 3 speed manual transmission, but need a rebuilt engine. i was looking at changing to a 289, which the engine itself is not much more expensive, but dont know how much more it would cost to make the change rather than a drop n swap with another six cylinder. How much would it cost to change from a v6 to a v8 in a 1965 mustang? One thing you might want to look into is the K member. I want to say it is different between the six and the eight. Not a huge problem but very labor intensive if it needs to be swapped out. Also think of resale value. Modifying that car may not be a wise financial move. People wont pay as much for a non-original engine car.How much would it cost to change from a v6 to a v8 in a 1965 mustang?alot. and the man hours and scraped knuckles, alot. isnt worth the change. if you want a v8 buy one. throw another inline 6 in your stang. How much would it cost to change from a v6 to a v8 in a 1965 mustang? These are both stock engines from the factory so are not a big deal on changing. I always liked to have an old same year parts car handy when I changed so I could get all the little things needed like mounts, brackets etc. A lot cheaper that way instead of buying new. But even so you are not looking at a lot of money %26amp; just a routine swap job.

Of course now days your 65 is a classic so you might be better off keeping everything stock.

Good luck! How much would it cost to change from a v6 to a v8 in a 1965 mustang? There's a lot more differences between an early V8 Mustang verses a 6 cylinder.

It's not a difficult swap, but the transmission, engine mounts, suspension, brakes, differential, 4 lug wheels and so fourth also have to be considered.
